We begin with an early drive from Arusha to the majestic beauty of
Lake Manyara. Tropical forests of giant fig and mahogany trees surround the lake and are a haven for elephant, giraffe, zebra, baboons and birds.
Our first game drive around the lake should provide us with a variety of antelope, the above mentioned species and a fair few of the park’s significant hippo population.
We rise early and transfer to Tanzania’s oldest and most famous national park, the Serengeti. Passing through the Ngorongoro highlands en route, there are chances to see large game and superb scenery.
Arriving at the
Serengeti, we head straight onto an afternoon game drive, with unlimited wildlife spotting opportunities. In addition to hosting the big five, the Serengeti is home to almost every species of large mammal found throughout Tanzania and its fame is well deserved.
Should your visit coincide with the migrations (around October and April), you may see one of the greatest sights on earth; 1.2 million wildebeest, 300,000 antelope and 200,000 zebras crossing the plains.
A full day in the Serengeti.
A morning transfer to
Ngorongoro Crater takes us through splendid highland scenery and as soon as we arrive, it’s down to the crater floor.
A game drive across the crater is a real eye opener. Despite its small size, there are an incredible 20,000 resident animals in this World Heritage Site. This is perhaps the easiest place in the world to see the endangered black rhino in the wild. Big game is everywhere and includes elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and cheetah.
Return to Arusha, where the tour ends.
